Remember the joy of being a kid in a candy store?
We would choose the tastiest snacks in the shop. There was no need to check ingredient labels, sugar content, or spend 10 minutes comparing similar snacks to find the right balance between what we actually want and what’s good for us. No. Taste was king, and that’s what mattered most.
As we got older and wiser, we learned the harm caused by those tasty treats and started substituting them for: more protein, less flavor; more fiber, less sweetness and so on. Soon, entering the snack aisle felt more guilty than it did fun due to the internal battle between desire and our health.
“Why are all the healthy snacks so bland and boring?” we’ve all muttered under our breath at some point.
